X.9430 X8430 Extract from DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EVL/M12.2.24. - VISIT TO SALES 8th.FEB. (1) ABOLITION OF 'C' COLUMN ON EAC.2. X.9430 X8430 It was pointed out that with revised pedals the driver has been moved bodily towards the dash 2 1/2" in the case of 'D', and 1 1/2" in the case of 'C'. Thus the revised 'D' steering provides a body space equivalent to the existing 'C' steering and it was suggested by EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} that the new 'C' was therefore not required. It was thought however that to retain the 'C' steering was necessary, not on account of body space but on account of the fact that certain drivers want to sit higher than 'D', yet not so high as 'B'.
