MR. Archer has raised the question of the drain tap on the water pumps on the Faireys machines.

We discussed this matter with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and as a result of this discussion informed Mr. Archer that in view of the fact that the water pump was not the lowest point of the water system, no useful purpose would be served in fitting a tap on the water pump. We understood that the retractable radiator was the lowest point in the water system.

MR. Archer has written again today, pointing out that owing to the water system used in the Fairey machines, the position of the radiator does not affect this question, and the water pump is the lowest point of the water which is carried in the engine, and that in order to avoid damage to the threads of the water pump it is considered advisable to fit a tap in place of the existing plug.

MR. Archer furthermore states that he discussed this matter with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} some time ago and that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} agreed with this.

We shall be glad if this matter can receive attention and if it is decided to fit taps, these should be instructed and handed to us as quickly as possible for fitting to the Fairey machines, which are now approaching completion.
