44199 D/L. From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.10/MA.5.12.32. ACCIDENT WITH 25-EX, CAR ON 5.12.32. Driver I.A.Leslie. No Passengers. Damage. Near side front wing of 25-EX. Slight dent in off side of tradesmans Van belonging to Turners Cakes, Goldsmith Street Nottingham. Description. I was driving 25-EX., cat at approx. 20 M.P.H. coming into the Market Place from Kedleston Road I saw a tradesman's van stationary on the near side of the road against the market place. The spot being the normal position for the trolley buses to stop. As there was sufficient room between the Van and Tram shelter standard for me to pass, I did not decrease my speed. When 25-EX., was practically upon the Van, the vehicle began to move and drew out slightly in front of my path. As the speed of 25-EX was small I decided to brake and draw in behind the Van which was apparently joining the line of traffic. Most of the roads round Derby were dry, but the road in question being wooden blocks was not so. In fact it was just slimy. The result being that my attempt to brake caused to car to skid slowly into the Van. The driver of the Van J.Walley of 26 Thoundal Rd., Stockhill, Nottingham, gave no signal of his intentions. The accident occurred at 11 am. Police Constable Ollerenshaw No.114 did not witness the accident, but took particulars. My driving licence was shown which we discovered at expired six weeks back. I produced my insurance certificate during the lunch interval of the same. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} | ||
