Y8440 PN.{Mr Northey}1/WT17.8.28. S/W (Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}) [strikethrough]Copy to BG[/strikethrough] SPRINGING. My impression from driving the "Phantom" Trials Sedanca to Derby and back recently, having the modified springs in the shock absorbers which were sent by you in order that the downward load should be double that of the upward load, was that the general riding at the higher speeds was somewhat improved, but that the slow speed vibrations appear to be exaggerated. I do not however feel that a test of this nature can be looked upon as being very reliable - so many factors can influence ones impression outside the modification being tried out - for instance varying number of passengers, i.e. the load, also the tyre pressure will all give different results. I did not feel that I had obtained any valuable information. Are you proposing to persevere with this test any further, or shall I have these springs taken out and the shock absorbers made standard once more? PN.{Mr Northey} wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} | ||
