X1265 W/P - Sr. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} S/KW. 3.9.35. Dear Sr., Knowing that the Paris organisation has an unrivalled reputation for staff work and general efficiency, I feel that you ought to check up on the people who gave you the information on the channel boats. You will recollect that you told me the Auto-Carrier left Boulogne at 12 o'clock. I duly arrived there at 11.20, and found that the Auto-Carrier did not sail from Boulogne but from Calais and did not leave at 12 o'clock but at 2 o'clock. There was a passenger boat leaving Calais at 12 o'clock which I could have caught comfortably had I known of it. There was no passenger boat from Boulogne until 2 o'clock. A cargo boat left at the same time taking cars across. The result of the incorrect information received was that I left Paris at 8 a.m. and arrived home at Midnight. I hope you will find an opportunity of testing out the altered filter position on your Trials car, and I shall be interested to hear the result. With regard to the high compression heads, I am getting into communication with Banks of the Ethyl Corporation with a view to finding out when the "Esso" supplied in France will be up to the standard of that at present being sold in England. I much enjoyed seeing you and Mrs. Sr. on Saturday. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
