ALTERATIONS FOR PROGRESS MEETING, MONDAY, JAN. 5TH.

Distributor, Sec:5150.

E.17757 - Control Bell Crank.
E.17732 - Distributor Casing.

Move control arm through 30° to give right angle setting at approximately mid position. The present conditions give very unequal angles (see Arrgt E.17157) and if setting has not been carefully made, jamming of the jaws sometimes takes place. This trouble was mentioned in a recent memo from Test Dept.

Castings for E.17757 - Bell Crank are made for series "J" "K" "L" & "M", castings for E.17732 - Casing for series "J" & "K" only. This modification could be brought on "N" & "O" series, or should it first be tried experimentally?

Exhaust Fittings Sec:5230.

U.1713 - Exhaust Box Union Nut.

Increasing overall length from .875 to 1.000 to obtain better hold on U.1711 - Exhaust Box Union, when the C.A. washer is added in the present condition it is only possible to engage 2 or 3 threads. We understand from Test Dept. that the C.A. washer was added and no corresponding modification made to any of the adjacent pieces. 1292 pieces have been made to the existing dimensions. As a temporary measure to deal with present production, we propose to reduce the depth of spherical seated washers U.1712 by .025 to .030.

Carburetter Sec:5080.

E.3313 - Throttle Body.

Tool Office propose deleting the oval facing at outlet branch end, so that the full face of this end can be machined at one setting, and facilitate the polishing operation.

E.720 - Spray Chamber.

Move the oval flange outwards .056, reducing the length of spigot by this amount, to accomodate the above suggested modification to Throttle Body.
