8373 Mr. Slater. (Paris). Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}7/MJ.8.3.34. Last week we had a visit of Mme. and Mons. Dubonnet. He brought with him a Pontiac car fitted with his form of suspension. I have since had a discussion with Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} explaining to them that we should like to try a car fitted up with this suspension. I have cabled to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} in U.S.A. to see whether he can bring the necessary parts back from there. So far however we have not had a reply but I am expecting one at any time. The other proposal was that Mons. Dubonnet may have some suitable spring boxes in Paris to suit a 25 HP. car or Bentley. At the present time we are crwoded out with work in our design office and there may be some delay before we could scheme out the fitting of the Dubonnet springing to one of our cars. The proposal we should like you to put forward to Mons. Dubonnet is supposing if we let him have a 25 HP. car could he arr nge to carry out the work of fitting his suspension to the front of the car in Paris. We should of course expect to pay for the work being done. I feel that we might get the job fitted quicker this way than any other way. We would help if necessary by producing some of the parts. I would be very grateful if you could talk to Mons. Dubonnet on this scheme and get his views. The reason we choose the 25 HP. is because we sell more of these cars than any other type and because we think it is the type which would show up the improvements of this suspension. We would be quite prepared to send someone over to Paris to discuss this scheme with Mons. Dubonnet if he considers it practical and it could be done quickly. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
