RE. LAYOUT OF B.3.

We wish to confirm our telephone conversation of yesterday agreeing to the dimension of 3.850. from the back of the dash to the centre line of the No.6. cylinder measured up the centre line of the transmission.

We agree also to the dash being potted locally to give greater clearance for the cylinder block and cylinder head cover. It would be an advantage of this pot did not extend as far down as the top of the sloping foot-board as this would avoid notching the board.

We have now fixed the position of the gearbox in the chassis. The centre of the ball fulcrum of the change speed lever is 21.000" from the back of the dash measured horizontally. A layout, full size, of the gearbox in the frame will follow in a few days, and also a scheme for dealing with the front floor.

In connection with the scheme for the distribution box which design we have just received the print, we presume that BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} having done the layout of the dash for Per.II. will lay this out in position on that car and on B.3. The only point in which we are interested is that it shall be in the centre of the dash on B.3. as we are expecting that the switch will be placed centrally on the instrument board.
