1021 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/SAC.9/ET. 13th March, 1941. EMPIRE RUBBER COMPANY, D U N S T A B L E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Beds. Dear Sirs, We have now received the 17 yards of door seal to our drawing No.RB.{R. Bowen}18003, for which we thank you. Below are our comments, and enclosed is a blue print which we think will further explain the matter. The green outline shows approximately an average section of the length of door seal that we have received. It will be seen that, at point A.{Mr Adams}, the gap is almost non existent, whereas this should be not less than 1/8", the reason being that, without the gap, too much resistance will be offered to the door to allow it to close easily, and if the section is collapsed at this point, it may not make a satisfactory seal. At point B., it is necessary that the flange should grip the metal tightly. On the sample rubber, the gap at this point is too wide. Whilst the flexibility of the rubber seems to be satisfactory, we should like, if possible, to get a smoother finish. The sample appears to be very rough. We hope that we have made ourselves clear and that you will be able to understand what we are trying to convey to you. Should there be any point on which you are not clear, perhaps you will telephone the undersigned. Yours faithfully, | ||
