25th. April 1938.

Attention of Mr.C.S.Steadman.

Dear Sirs,

Oil Gauge and Thermometer Units to Orders 57888, 54880 and 54760.

Further to your letter of the 12th. April, Ref: RM {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Std.6/MH. {M. Huckerby} , we now have pleasure in replying hereunder to the various queries raised.

1 & 2. We can deliver altered instruments to your Order No. 57888 in approximately 2/3 weeks from date of instruction.

Against this order we have 20 Dual Gauges to your Code D.75953 ready for shipment and 30 additional dials printed. We can modify the finished stock at a cost of approximately 8/6d. per instrument.

3. You will appreciate that our costs are controlled by the question of quantity and we ought to explain that the greatly reduced figure which we were able to quote you was in anticipation of your order for larger quantities of one type of Oil Gauge Thermometer.

4. Quite frankly we would prefer to deliver instruments exactly as already supplied, for the reason that it is always a costly procedure to carry out modifications in the works as it means breaking down the job and rebuilding. At the same time, it is our desire to meet your wishes and we await your commands.

Yours faithfully,
For S.SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LTD.
Charles W.Nicholls.

SALES DIRECTOR.
