Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Major Searight.

Many thanks for your letter of the 26th. inst. We should be very pleased to let your Mr. Lingwood calibrate the tank to drg. F.55744 on Monday morning. We should also be pleased to see you on Thursday next if this is convenient for you.

We regret that we have changed our gauge position so often but we think that we shall shortly reach the point when we have two positions for retrospectively fitting gauges to the 40/50 HP. and 20 HP. and two positions for our standard production which will be fixed for a very considerable time.

The tank similar to Mr. Royce's car (20 HP.) and a new 40/50 HP. tank will be ready in about 10 days. Fortunately, this time in advance of the cars for which they are intended, so that we should be able to get the tanks calibrated and the gauges made comfortably some time before they are intended to run on the road.
These two tanks are the ones we hope will be our standard production for some time to come.

The only trouble we have experienced on the 40/50 HP. balanced gauge, which we are running, is a reluctance to pump up when the gauge is disconnected and then coupled up with the tank full, and slight excessive delay in registering when the tank is filled up.
Unfortunately, the car to which this gauge is fitted has been in the Shop for other reasons so that we have not been able to complete our tests. We are fitting a similar unit to another car however.

We hope we have made the position clear to you and thank you for the prompt attention which you invariably give us.

Yours faithfully,
