X4508 Exptl. Dept. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Std.1/KW. 15th December, 1934. Messrs. F.W. Miller & Co. Ltd., Milarna Works, Nansen Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham. Dear Sirs, We should like you to make for us a bimetallic strip as shown on attached sketch, Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1660. This coiled strip will be required to move a cam only with a temperature rise of approx. 40°C., i.e., 20° to 60°C. - it will have to exert no other force than that to overcome its spindle friction. We should like this strip as soon as possible and will send you an official order for it. Will you also please give us some figures of the torque per degree rise of temperature obtainable with a spiral strip of these overall dimensions with varying thicknesses, and the corresponding "wind-ups" of these spiral strips. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
