X 7120. To PN.{Mr Northey} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. to WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to CX.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}8/MJ.9.6.31. CONTINENTAL TYPE SPARE WHEEL LOCATION. Replying to PN.{Mr Northey}1/WT.8.6.31. The only different condition which has recently arisen is that it has now been standardised that we can carry spare wheels at the side. With the present design of Continental Sports Car it would mean a considerable alteration in the shape of the wing and the appearance of the car if the wheels are carried at the side. The special front wings used on the Continental car could not be used with wheels at the side. Our tests so far with transferring wheels from the rear to the side have only been carried out on big limousine cars; on these we can detect very little difference. We know of no technical reason why you should not have two side spare wheels except that it will need a special scheme and most probably special wheel carriers. The best compromise is to carry one spare wheel. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
