| 1379 SECRET. Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 4/R.17.1.39. We find that we can get 150 mile run on the Italian Autostrada, though at one point we shall have to slow up to 40 m.p.h. We consider, however that this will enable us to achieve the average aimed at over 100 miles, if permission can be obtained to use the road. It is possible that the Italians do not raise objections to high average speeds being accomplished on these roads, since one has to pay to use them in any case.
