RE. WIND RESISTANCE ON CONTINENTAL PHANTOM. X.8830
X.8380
X.1505

We note that you wish us to give you some sort of connection between the face area and tractice wind resistance of the sports body, so that when you are making specially shaped bodies for customers requirements, you may have a rule to apply.

We deeply regret that we are unable to tell you of any connection between projected face area and wind resistance. It is a matter which does not admit of such a simple rule being applied.

We think that we should tell the coachbuilders that should they make any departure from the general shape of body, front screens or wings of the experimental sports body which we produced in their Works they will lose instead of gain unless that change is in the direction of diminishing the stream lined nature of the complete car. We cannot predict or accept responsibility for any changes which materially affect the XXX shape of the body, wings, or screen. Slight changes in the artistry, finish, etc., are permissible, and will not result in loss of efficiency. It will be necessary to consider each coachbuilder's suggestion on its merits, and do our best to warn them of the results he may expect.

We propose adding instructions concerning the body shape to the chassis print of the continental Phantom.
