Huckerby}20.10.38 and note that a Depot Sheet will be issued in due course concerning the proposed modification to the bush. We think there has been a misunderstanding concerning "20/25 HP. splined servo linings". We have, however, had three complaints of the servo squeaking on Phantom III chassis. Upon testing the cars, we noticed that the servo produced a light metallic squeak. We found, upon dismantling, that the squeak was produced by the G.82828 friction plate fouling the G.83267 outer pressure plate, at point "A" indicated on the attached sketch, after a certain amount of wear had taken place in the splined servo linings. We overcame the trouble (without having to touch the liners) by reducing the inner face of the friction plate by about .020" (point "B" on the sketch)., and since we carried out the work, there has not been any recurrence of the trouble on the cars attended to. We attach a sketch to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}'s and CWH.'s copies of this memo. VA. V | ||
