To D/L. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/TAG1/LG12. 7. 27. K4199 ACCIDENT TO 8-EX CAR. 7. 7. 27. When proceeding along Arkwright St.{Capt. P. R. Strong}, Nottingham in the direction of the Trent Bridge en-route for Cranwell Aerodrome, I was passing a tramcar No.154 on the near-side going in the same direction - (The road in front was quite clear and the speed of the car was 10 to 15 m.p.h.)- 8-EX was all but passed, when a pedestrian stepped off the pavement into the roadway, to avoid him I had to swerve slightly and apply the brakes. The recovery from the swerve brought the off-side rear wheel hub in contact with a fitting on the tramcar which holds the road guard. This was broken off. Also the rear off-side wing of 8-EX was bent. Names and addresses were exchanged. The driver of the tramcar to whom no blame can be attached was Mr. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Elliot, Nottingham Corporation Tramway Dept. In 8-EX car were Flt. Lt. Bulman and Flt. Lt. Potts. The width of the road between the tramcar and the pavement edge is approx. 8 ft. The width of the car 6 ft. The time was approx. 4-15 p.m. Thursday 7.7.27. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/T.A.
