Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Hw/TMW. Ds/Dir. EPC1/AT12.1.21. X.3014b. NOISY LUCAS DYNAMOS. Mr. Platford has demonstrated to us this afternoon, a particularly bad case of noisy Lucas dynamo on one of his chassis, and has also corroborated how the hum can be removed by pressing on the carcase of the dynamo fairly hard with pieces of iron at various points. So far as we are concerned we consider we have demonstrated the cause of the hum and how this can be in principle avoided. We think that at this point it is for the Design Dept. to instruct some scheme experimentally with a view to eliminate this hum in the way we know this to be possible. We as the Expt. Test Dept. do not feel we can do anything further beyond testing out such schemes as are developed by the Design Dept. Will you kindly therefore arrange for some scheme to be got out with this end in view. EPC. | ||
