X1110 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth.14/KW. 21st December, 1935. Messrs. Borg & Beck Ltd., Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa. For the attention of Mr. Barker. Dear Sirs, We are much obliged for your letter of the 19th inst., and for the installation drawing SK-39600, which is just what we required. We confirm that we wish to follow precisely the same procedure regarding balancing and mounting the clutch as in the case of the 10" application. We shall require the additional hole for the locating peg as you specify. We appreciate the position at your end respecting the time required for the production of jigs and fixtures for balancing. Regarding the completed Questionnaire Form which you have returned to us, may we ask you whether the mains springs or the damping springs differ in this specification from those in the 11" clutches you have already provided us with. We await with great interest your report on the broken 10" pressure plate. In the meantime, we understood from Mr. Barker that this piece is made of 15 ton cast iron. Would you have any objections to making this in some stronger material, such as Millenite, which we believe to have a tensile strength in the neighbourhood of 25 tons/sq.in. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
