Dear Sirs,
For the attention of Mr. C.S. Steadman.
Replying to your letter of the 23rd October, we have investigated your requirements, and with an experimental piece of apparatus, employing a bellows 1 3/4" diameter, we have obtained the conditions which you require.
The minimum outside diameter of the case to house the bellows is 2", and as far as we are able to tell a length of 3" will be required.
It is possible, however, that we may be able to reduce this length after a little more experimenting.
We are arranging to make a rather better job of the instrument which we tested, and we will despatch this to you on Monday for your comments.
We have discussed this matter fully with Mr. Henry this morning when he visited these Works, but unfortunately we were unable to give him this information as the tests were not concluded before he left.
Yours truly,
THE BRITISH THERMO STAT CO.LTD.
W.Martin-Hurst.
