Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/LG2.2.20. X.3461 Dear Maddocks, We have received your reports dated 28th.Jan. We trust by this time that you have received the new shock absorber parts from Entwistle. We sent you rotors and levers complete so that there will be no mistake about them fitting properly. We are rather concerned about your remarks re. the car being difficult to control at high speeds. This, of course, is all a question of degree. On some roads one would expect it to be entirely difficult to drive at 60 M.P.H. But we have imagined that with shock absorbers fitted that the car will be quite reasonable as regards control over rough roads at high speeds. We should like you, if possible, to run with and without the rear shock absorbers connected and for you to let us know what percentage of improvement you think they make. As regards the pistons we want you to listen carefully when the engine is hot and see whether there is a light knock in the engine - it is what we know as an elusive knock. The knock we mean is one that cannot Contd | ||
