In the time the brushes will wear down and it may be necessary to increase the spring pressure step by step, which [for on the brush holders. A spare set of brushes provided] adjustment is provided with each chassis. Should it become necessary to put these on, care should be taken to see that the proper bedding is secured. Further, the dynamo should be allowed to run light with these brushes for some time before being called upon the charge the battery. (d) Belt Adjustment. An adjustment is provided in the dynamo suspension by means of which the tension of the driving belt can be controlled. The belt should be adjusted to be gently tight. If at any time the maximum charging current of the dynamo as shewn by the ammeter, when no lights or other apparatus are switched on, falls lower than the normal of 12 amperes, this may be due to the belt slipping and attention should be given [to] this adjustment. 3. LUCAS SWITCHBOX? FUSE. This fuse is in the field circuit of the dynamo. If at the time the dynamo fails to charge, the first thing to do is to make sure that this fuse is intact. If it is necessary to replace this fuse, spares will be found in a small container in the switchbox, and care should be taken that the fuse, when replaced, is gripped firmly at its two ends in the holder provided. It is especially necessary to take this precaution as the fuses are rather fine. CUT-OUT. The cutout is correctly set and should give reliable service. It should not be interfered with unless it Contd | ||
