81487 Expl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/MJ. July 4th.1931. Mr. Skinner, The S.U.Carburetter Co., Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM. Dear Mr. Skinner, Thank you for the needles which you sent to us for the 40/50 S.U.Carburetters. We are still too rich however, and would ask you to send us some weaker needles. With regard to the 25 HP. The HV5 carburetter seems to suit this engine very well but we have only one jet for this at present. We should therefore like a range of jets for this carburetter also. You will understand that we have a fair amount of work to do before we can ask you to take an interest in getting the carburetter to perform satisfactorily on the road. We want to get an appreciable increase in power first with good distribution, then get metering curves on the test bed until we know that we are about right with our needle and finally ask for your assistance to improve the carburation on the road. So far we are getting good power and distribution and therefore want to start work on the metering curves. We are very much indebted to you for the way in which you are helping us with this job. Yours faithfully, For Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd. | ||
