SPECIFICATION OF COACHWORK FOR 1-B-5.
CLOSE COUPLED FOUR DOOR SALOON - SHORT WHEELBASE BENTLEY.

CHASSIS.
B-5 Type Short Wheelbase Chassis - for all particulars see drawings in appendix herewith.
Untarnishable finish - one spare wheel on off-side. Wheels either 17 x 6 or 16 x 6.5.

BODY.
Close Coupled Four Door Saloon - see PD.7. PD.14 and PD.20.

BODY SHELL CONSTRUCTION.
The body to be constructed with a steel framework and panelled in aluminium, following the latest light construction used in the body for chassis B-117-JY. The sill should be no wider than shewn on PD.14, and should finish at the wheelarch as drawn. Provision must be made for the drilling of the body bolt holes in the sill during the body mounting. It should be possible to reduce the body shell weight over and above the reduction already made on B-117-JY, in that the body will have to live on a torsionally rigid chassis frame.

FRONT WINGS.
Alum. S.W.G.16 and shaped to drawings and dimensions given. Wings carried entirely on the Radiator and Bonnet Valance at front end, and rigidly attached to the front end of the platform steps. Front apron integral with the front wing.

REAR WINGS.
Alum. S.W.G.16 and carried entirely on the wheelarch by bolts. Petrol filler in wing on nearside.

STONE SHIELDS.
Latest approved pattern - but not A.C.

DOORS.
To be as thin as possible and fitted with Bentley type Silent Travel Locks. Front door hinged on centre pillar, and rear door on rear pillar, both with hinges external and having lubricators. Door checks of latest type approved. Front and rear doors have interior handles on the lock spindles. All handles to be of the same pattern. Windows to be of Triplex Toughened Glass 3/16 thick.
