Wind Screen Dither.

Attached are graphs showing the actual amount of movement measured at the corners of the windscreens of various cars.

The movement of 29.G.6. is of course outstandingly large, it was this in effect, which turned our attention to the amount of movement other makers screens are making.

The Rover and the V.8 Ford were used as examples for comparison, these are not especially good samples, nearly two of six popular makes tried.

We found from our tests that the three main reasons for 'dither' are firstly -

That the winding handle which was offset to the passengers side on 29.G.6. should always be central.

Secondly that the screen frame should be a stronger fitting, this will now be possible on our cars as we understand Sales have agreed to let the screen have an external rubber seal.

Thirdly a better type of top hinge is required, those used on 29.G.6. and other exptl. cars are very weak and have far too much lost movement.

The points mentioned in the memo. were discussed with Mr. Ward with reference to 9.B.5. and 2.B.50 when Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} and the writer visited Messrs. Park Ward's, and we hope to improve on these two cars in this respect.
