-2- Contd. that we can publish to OY., to Repair Dept., and to owners generally, not crying stinking fish, but telling them what spares are recommended and available for different types, and the price of such spares, which should be as low as possible so as to get the parts on a good and lasting basis. I thank E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} for his memo. of the 17th. In the design for offset rocker stiffen to avoid bouncing. Perhaps some slight damping friction, and perhaps an over- lift damping spring, as on Watford magnetos. Oscilloscope should shew if we bounce more than Delco or Bosch. Tungsten might like a little scrub on making as would appear to be the case with Delco. It would rub the contact (not good for platinum) and damp the rebound. Offset would appear to meet the cam during break and follow it during make. What percentage would this be ? A diagram of motion like a valve is necessary. Disc rotor on distributor seems quite a good and easy improvement but should be tested for value, but can do no harm. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
