File 1022 & 1023 To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}9/JH.19.3.40. re Starting Handle and Front Bumper Brackets Ripplet 2.R.2. We attach herewith two prints of PL.152. showing the starting handle and the modified front bumper forging for Silver Ripplet 2.R.2. The starting handle is like all other models of the Rationalised Range having cast iron engines, except that its length has been made to suit the latest R.R. Wilmot-Breeden front bumper. We show also the design for the Bumper support bracket forging which is demanded by the new bumper. We have shown the attachment for the Sessions hydraulic jack mounted outside the bumper. We are aware that Messrs. Sessions are going to offer us a trunnion mounting for the jack which will modify the bumper bracket, but we suggest you may wish to let the car start its life equipped for the use of the existing jack, the bumper brackets being made as a temporary expedient in alum bronze.
