ORGANISATION TO PROVIDE FACILITIES FOR OBTAINING SPECIFICATIONS.

A meeting was held on February 28th. between HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/RH.{R. Hollingworth}, Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH., Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}, Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} and Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} to discuss the available machinery for producing specifications.

The ideal arrangement was agreed to be one in which the specification for any engine or any chassis in existence in the Experimental Shop could be produced at a few hours' notice.

It was essential, however, that in arriving at this state of affairs no 'red tape' should be introduced which would interfere with the flexibility of experimental work.

The following procedure was decided upon:-

The specification for any new chassis would be issued by the Design, and as in the case of the Ripple, in a number of instances scheme drawings would not be available for every piece of the car. Therefore, the original specification would contain a number of blanks, and to enable the car to be built these blanks would be filled with existing L.O.P's or schemes. Hunt would then work on this specification and produce an Index Sheet.

In the meantime, RH.{R. Hollingworth} would have started to build the chassis, and finally the first car would be turned out with a number of parts which would not feature on the final specification.

As soon as the car was handed over to the coach builders or to experimental test, HH. would complete its Index Sheet specifying exactly what had been built into this car. A copy of this sheet would be sent to Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}, Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH.
