Miss Taylor - Please ensure Ru COPY. MINISTRY OF AIRCRAFT PRODUCTION, MILLBANK, S.W.1. CRD/38/29. 5th March, 1942. Dear Hives, The Hurricane II with its 40 m/m guns is a very promising weapon and one from which we hope to achieve good results when it can be brought into use. We are, therefore, particularly anxious to avoid any publicity over the installation during the ensuing months and I am writing to ask you to impress this on your people. We want to keep the knowledge of the gun in its aircraft form and especially of its performance to as few people as possible and so avoid giving warning to the enemy. I know I can count on your co-operation in this matter. Yours sincerely, (Sgd.) F.J. Linnell. E.W. Hives Esq., Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Circulated to:- Ve. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} Lov{Mr Lovesey}/Brns. Will you please ensure that this instruction is rigidly adhered to. All correspondence respecting the gun should be enclosed in envelopes, and marked 'SECRET'. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
