X4383. Performance of RR Goshawk Dynamos on General Specification X294.
The laboratory experimental Goshawk dynamos and machine No 43 (from production) were tested last month for compliance with the general specification for Goshawk dynamos.
No 43 machine, after four hours run at maximum output attained a steady temperature of 64°C (ambient temp=18°C). The open-circuit voltage of the machine then at 640 rpm was 12.75v, the speed for 13.6 volts being 665 rpm.
Operating on a battery (adjusted to the hot characteristic) the output rose to a maximum of 10.5 amperes.
