X3730 CJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/LG29.1.23. 20 HP. CAR FOR U.S.A. X4219 (struck through) X3730 EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} and myself called at Conduit Street on our way back from W.W. and saw B.J. and C. with reference to the above. After a discussion, it was arranged that as regards the body, we should either use the Barker green limousine which has recently had the roof modified, or the Hooper Landaulet which is at present fitted to a dummy chassis at Conduit Street. The Barker limousine was being tried by B.J. last weekend to see whether it was suitable. As regards the chassis, it was agreed that if we were sending a new body, it would be advisable to send a new chassis and if possible for it to go out as one of the 6 on order by Springfield. C. said that he had a chassis which could be allotted at once for this purpose. To fit a new body to an experimental chassis would mean altering the dashboard and radiator. It would also mean that the chassis would require a light overhaul before it could go to U.S.A. for good. Any of the experimental chassis available have run 20/25,000 miles. It was agreed that the complete car should be in New York before the end of February. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} is arranging for a driver to go with this car. It was agreed that the car should be sent to New York and not to Springfield. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
