point we record a series of readings on one battery, between each of which we increased the resistance by cutting one of the ten resistance wires which, at the start, were all in parallel; the results of the test are given in the following table:-

We had previously been attempting to measure the internal resistance accurately by using smaller currents of the order of 10 and 1 ampere. The former had led to values of the resistance about twice as great as at 100 amperes. The latter apparently led to values of the resistance the same as those for 100 amperes. We do not attach importance to these as it is difficult to get rid of the effect of change of E.M.F.
We are attaching a revised copy of our specification of chassis lighting and starting batteries which represents our latest ideas on the subject. This cancels previous specification.
