1128 COPY FOR FILES. To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FWK. DIESEL ENGINES. Herewith is some information concerning the performances of some of the nine popular engines used for transport in Europe and America today. It will be noted that in spite of the apparent heavy weight of the 6-cyl. G.M. engine, the power-weightratio of it, (column 3) is second on the list. The Austro-Saurer gives not only the best power-weight ratio, but also the best economy. The fuel consumption of the larger 8-cyl. Saurer (140 H.P.) is down to 9.18 lb/H.P. This is a direct injection engine. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FWK. | ||
