COMPLAINT CASE.

PAUL DUBONNET, ESQ. - 3-BT{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer}-22.
(staying at Claridges Hotel, W.1.

Messrs. Jack Barclay Ltd., telephoned to me this afternoon to say that they had in their Showrooms, the above owner and his wife who had taken delivery of their new P.III during the last day or two and were complaining of clutch judder. They said Mr. Dubonnet wanted to come across and see somebody in authority with reference to this matter.

At my interview with them, Mr. Dubonnet described the clutch symptoms, which are so well-known to us though, of course, he himself was uncertain as to whereabouts in the transmission the play or noise came from.

I made the necessary apologies and asked him when we could have the car at N. saying that we could deal with the trouble he mentioned in, I hoped, two days, though it might be a little more.

They were both very pleasant about the matter, promised to send the car in on Monday morning, but asked whether it would be possible at the same time to stiffen up the front suspension which they found very light at 70 m.p.h. and over.

I fear this is the impression that the P.III with its special front suspension, frequently makes on a customer at the outset and that there is not very much that N. can do, but I did not tell the customer this.

In view of the importance of Mr. Dubonnet, who always buys our latest model, I telephoned on the 3 o'c call to Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} to ask if there was any possibility of their supplying a Long plate for this clutch.

Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} suggested I should speak to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} was good enough to say that while he was very doubtful of being able to supply one, he would, if he possibly could, have one put on the first passenger train leaving Derby on Monday morning next. I hope it will be possible to fit a plate of this type as owner's cars are always very prominent on the Continent.
