c. to E/Psn.

CHASSIS UNIVERSAL UNIT.

With reference to the various development parts issued be E/Psn. for the above unit, the programme we propose following is :-

(1) Aluminium Single Inlet Head, issued 15.10.36 for detonation tests etc.

(2) Replacement top-half crankcase in I/C. issued 21.10.36. urgently required for valve timing tests. The existing Aluminium top half having worn, and allowing excessive play in the phase and duration controls.

(3) Aluminium block with dry liner issued 28.10.36.

We consider that it will be necessary to have at least two aluminium heads and blocks made to ensure continuity of running in the event of scrapping one and we should be glad if you would have these put through.

We are rapidly drawing near the end of our proposed programme with existing parts on the High Power Head and Block, and unless the above parts are forthcoming very soon, we foresee that progress on the job will be delayed due to lack of material. It would be appreciated, therefore, if you would put the above parts through as quickly as possible, to avoid any chance of a hold up.

Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} J.L. Edwards.
