[Handwritten initial 'Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'] re Bentley Hydraulic Tappets. We send you herewith:- LeC.4412 which is the main scheme for the 25-HP. engine fitted with hydraulic tappets. The Administration have decided that this work should not be proceeded with. However, on this drawing there are three units which should be incorporated on the Bentley design of hydraulic tappets which you are dealing with. They are:- (1) The filter unit. (2) The low pressure valve mounted on the wheelcase. (3) The helical gear oil pump and relief valve. It will be noticed that we have increased the size of the pipe for the overflow oil from the pump. We think this is necessary as on the Bentley cars fitted with large oil pumps to LeC.4288 the pressures recorded indicate a possible restriction in the blow-off valve and pipe. LeC.4412 attached.
