Referring to your HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}7/LG2126. re. Phantom bodies, we are aware that it was suggested that 6 bodies should be built for the subframe. We did not wish to build 6 all at once, because that would have prevented our introducing modifications and improvements in the subframe as experiments progressed. We therefore bought the bodies somewhat according to our requirements. You have the following:-

40/50. Barker enclosed limousine - 8-EX.
Hooper enclosed limousine - 9-PK.
Barker all-weather torpedo - 7-EX. in France.
Barker enclosed cabriolet EAC. 1. (in hand.)

20HP. GF-68. Original Barker landaulet on subframe.
10.G.111. Barker cabriolet de ville.

Regarding EAC.8. chassis we will immediately proceed to either obtain or build a body, and we wish you to send us a subframe. Since you require an open car we presume it will be a short chassis 'D' steering. We can camouflage the revised shortened 'D' column which EAC. 8. has, so as to prevent the coachbuilders becoming suspicious. The EAC. 8. subframe is exactly similar to the present 40/50. except for the revised floorboard brackets at the scuttle, but we believe Derby have sufficient information to give you a design and details for the subframe.

Would C. please let us know how long it would take him to have an open body built. In view of the revised steering we should find it difficult to use up a stock body due to the wheel fouling the screen. We might however be able to deal with this and bring the seat into the correct position by using a very thick squab. As far as we can see, if you must have a body by say the end of Feb. there is going to be no other course than that of trying to adapt a stock body.

Regarding EAC. 7. we cannot make a move on a body for this car yet, as the subframe whilst the same in principle as that in use, will be different in shape and detail. We hope to send you designs of subframe shortly. We will keep the matter of a body for EAC. 7. well before us in our minds.
