NOSE PIECE TO SUIT LOW INERTIA SLIPPER WHEEL AND REAR FLANGE TO SUIT THIN WEB FLYWHEEL. Origin. To decrease load on main bearings and by means of low inertia slipper wheel brings master period of crank up to 4,150 revs. Experimental Test Report. Fitted to 18.G.IV. for 10,000 miles test. The balance weights balance the crankshaft and 1/3 of the big end. Road Test Report. Fitted to 18.G.IV. and ran 10,000 miles in France. Engine was very smooth and free from crankshaft periods.
