To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.6/MH.{M. Huckerby}4.2.38. 200a The new type bumper bar which is going to be used on M series left for Levallois by air yesterday. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} thinks it would be a good idea for you to collect it from Paris if convenient. The first 100 bumpers for M series are going to have the Silent-bloc bush fixing as now on 6.B.IV, but after that we shall use the separate Silent-bloc and distance piece as supplied with the new bumperbar. We are particularly anxious to get some miles on the separate Silent-bloc and distance piece before chassis leaves this works with these parts. For your own feeling of safety we are told by Wilmot Breeden that they have had no failures with this type of fixing. We have already complained to the makers concerning the poor finish of the distance pieces. You will notice that there are two short support plates under the spring plates at the U bolt attachment. We understand that Paris have had failures of the spring plates at this position. If so it would be interesting to find out how many complaints they have had. We are told by Breedens that the short support plates are very good things for such trouble. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} | ||
