X7791 To ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. EFC1/T11.1.28. WATFORD EW6. MAGNETO. Referring to Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/MG10.1.28 with attached copy of a letter from Messrs. North & Sons, we duly note their explanation of the rotor phenomena. For the moment we shall not concern ourselves with having the distributor wheel changed for one with a correctly marked tooth. In any case, one of these magnetos is with Mr. Royce in France and unfortunately this is wrong both as regards the wheel tooth marking and the rotor marking, having been correctly timed to the engine by our testers. We are very anxious to have from Messrs. Norths an answer to our letter EFC3/T. of the 12th Dec. concerning the armature rub which developed on EW6. magneto No.99171. We referred to this in our EFC5/T12.12.27 to yourself, but we have not yet received any word from Messrs. North concerning this. Further to this, in Messrs. North's letter of the 22nd. ult., they say they are sending along a still further magneto No.100082. We have seen nothing of this but have enquired of your Mr. Dalman and understand he is looking into the matter for us. In the meanwhile we are also awaiting a report from the Test Dept. on magneto No.100081 which now has the correctly marked rotor thought incorrectly marked wheel tooth. This will also answer your note ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/Dn6/BH.9.1.28. It can scarcely be said that all the outstanding points with regard to this machine have been settled. EFC. | ||
