I wish to confirm that the information conveyed in BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /Mtn.8/N.25.4.38. is correct, in regard to the exhaust manifolds.
I have again discussed the position with Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and he is satisfied that nothing further can be done beyond EW.1789 for the first 300 cars, which means that a metal pattern should be put in hand for this type of pipe.
This, of course, means that my original instruction to the D.O. stands, that pipe EW.1789 is to be used for production.
