Re Broken Front Cross Tube Bracket - Chassis 1860.

With reference to the attached matter, I have inspected the broken cross tube and am of the opinion that it is closely related to the fracture of the side member on chassis 1484 (Lazard) the difference being that in one case the frame broke and in this case the bracket of the tube has failed but exactly the same forces have been at work.

Unfortunately the tube alone was sent to Derby, having been taken out of the frame in France, so I did not have an opportunity of inspecting whether the rivets in the sound bracket were slack as one would expect, but there is certainly some evidence of the remaining bolts in the broken bracket being tight, or at least some difficulty has been experienced in cutting the
