x177 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}13/KT. Sept 7th 1933. I.A. Leslie Esq., Hotel Hochfinstermunz, Oberinntal, Tirol, Austria. Dear Les.{Ivan A. Leslie}, We were very amused at your letter from which it would appear that you are on the way to recovery. We have certainly missed your activities on controllable dampers, but we think we are making some progress. We think that the air vents past the pistons actually spoil our dampers when working at the road spring frequency of 60 sec. or less. You have certainly selected a good place for your stay and we hope that you are getting as much sun as we are here. Derby is dried up and the water supply is running short. The Bentley keeps us in good spirits. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} cracked up a set of our improved pistons, and the day after fitting replacements ejected the front balance weight via the ignition tower; thus the most cheerful thing about it is the flywheel whistle. However, we think we have settled the piston job and are fitting integral balance weights. Wishing you a speedy return, Yours sincerely, | ||
