To. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c.c. RC.{R. Childs} 600a CHATEAUROUX. 2/.20.3.38. 26.G.VI.- 25/30 HP. R.R. Ignition Distributor. We dismantled the distributor for examination on completion of the 15,000 miles. The driving pin was not broken. (This was the standard R.R. taper pin fitted by us, at the same time that the slipper drive poundage was reduced). The governor had however come adrift and had fouled the aluminium housing. This was due to the 5/64" pin which locates the main pivot pin for the weights coming out allowing the pivot pin to work out sideways so that both the end of this pin and the governor weights fouled the housing. We have refitted the job temporarily with a hard 5/64" split pin. The contact breaker arm is very loose on its bush, but the distributor is otherwise in good condition. --------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M.
