- 2 - A four-speed box might use synchronizers on three forward speeds, but in practice the speed which is only entered when the car is standing does not need it. Cannot tell you anything more which is useful about transmissions, except that by practice and hard-slugging in acquiring accuracy our silent gears get more silent with less trouble.
