To Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/CAP.1/JH. 21.3.36. Modified Lucas P.100 Headlamps. In reply to your Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}/MK.19.3.36. in connection with Lucas headlamps for Professor E.C. Dodds new Bentley car, Mr. West is away at present, but I can probably give you the information you require. As a result of repeated failure of the plunger contact, on the tripod lamp-support, of the present P.100 lamp, and our consequent complaints, the Lucas Co. have produced a modified form of this lamp, which they have designated P.100.R. In this new type they have eliminated the plunger contact, by mounting the lamp-holder in the back of the lamp. We would point out, however, that this lamp as far as we are concerned at least, is still in the experimental stage. At present we have four of these P.100.R lamps running on experimental cars, but we need a little more experience with them, before we can express a definite opinion.
