| 1025 To Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /FD. {Frank Dodd - Bodies} (FOR LOG BOOK). Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 8/MH. {M. Huckerby} 30.10.39. 33.G.VII. This is a very pleasing automobile and quite one of the best we have so far produced. We have the following criticisms to make:- (1) Rain leaks in copiously round the windscreen. (2) The car would not start this morning. This appeared to be more like ignition trouble than choke, since use of the accelerator pedal failed to produce the required result. We understand that you have now discovered that oil has been leaking on to the plugs. We have, however, asked CTS. {C. Trot Salt - Carburation} to bring the choke up to date with modifications etc. as soon as he can. (3) Idling is still lump and irregular. (4) Apart from the crackling there was a noise in one of the brake drums after the brakes had been used a certain amount, which suggested that the liner might have come loose. (5) The heater switch would not switch off and it became very hot and smelt. This type of switch is most ineffective and thoroughly undesirable. Something better should be fitted before we hand the car over to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} (6) Windscreen wipers. After continuous use the windscreen wipers failed to function but recovered again later. (7) One tappet is still noisy. (8) We should like to try the roller accelerator pedal which you fitted up on 30.G.VII, on this car. The present accelerator position is not very comfortable. (9) A better view would be obtained from the driving seat if the column was lifted as far as it would go and the seat raised a similar amount. | ||
