| EH2/LC10418. 10th April. 1918. X.3281. Mr. Stephen R. {Sir Henry Royce} Townsend, C/o Davidson, 36 Willowbank St. {Capt. P. R. Strong} , Woodlands Road, Glasgow. Dear Sir, With reference to your patent Carburetter which you submitted to us. We have examined the blue prints and find that the carburetter does not fulfil the requirements of a modern Aero Engine. The following are the points which we consider your Carburetter does not fulfil:- (1) No means of control to compensate for altitude conditions. (2) Pressure in the float chamber should be balanced with the pressure in the Air inlet. (3) Slow running arrangement is unsatisfactory. (4) No compensation in the carburetter for any variation in load. (5) Stream line effect through the carburetter is poor. The principle is rather similar to the S.U. Carb: except that the S.U. has the advantage that it is an automatic carburetter. We return herewith blue prints. We thank you for sending us particulars. Yours truly, | ||
