Instructions from Mr. Royce on securing a nose bearing race and specifications for a ratchet locking ring.

Identifier  ExFiles\Box 105\2\  scan0068
Date  7th February 1921

Contd. -2-

Referring now to the means of holding on the nose bearing race, Mr. Royce wishes to use a long cheese-headed screw put in from the outer end, and securing the bearing washer by means of a castellated nut, for which latter piece there appears to be enough room in the axle.box.

This bolt will be put in position before the universal nut is split pinned, and it should have a long head of .375" diameter.

Referring to the ratchet locking ring for the oil retainer spring, this should be made without castellations on outside, although shewn on LeC.1334, because its function is not to turn.
