I persuaded him to keep the car on the promise that in the event of our finding a non permanent remedy, we would let him know, he was however very insistent that he had a number of friends with 4¼ Bentleys, every one of which jaggered badly!

Just before I left, he started on the level on first, and produced one really bad jagger, and I left with the feeling that my visit had done something to mollify him, as he admitted that in some 2,000 miles, he had only experienced really bad jagger two or three times, but there is no doubt that "jagger" is a very real obsession with him.

Since writing this report I have just received a letter from him reading as follows :-

" Dear Mr. Chandler,

A line to thank you for your kind trouble over my car yesterday.

I think you gathered that I was disappointed that the snatch and chatter cannot be cured as to my mind, barring this it is the best car I have ever owned or could wish to own.

I am sorry to say that I have decided to sell it and miss it I shall - but it is no use holding on as I cannot drive it in restricted spaces.

I hope you got back all right.

Maurice Molloy,

Personally I do not think it would be much use fitting another standard clutch plate, we are however trying several different linings, including Thermoid.
